Whether it be a line from Young Frankenstein or a lyric from a Steven Tyler song. walking is a way of life. Or at least it should be. At last count, ovet “x” Americans were overweight and when asked in a research study- 87% of all the responses indicated that they were on at least one long term prescription drug for some type of ailment that is indirectly related to inactivity, being overweight or both.
So why is walking so important- because it gets our bodies moving and takes us from point “A” to point “B”. Yet, we whine and complain about it and bemoan walking five blocks to return a library book (thinking preCovid, peeps)
We, as a people do not move enough and combine that with too many calories and you are looking at an obesity epifemic.
So, is there an easy solution? Yes, – it’s called putting on your shoes and going outside and putting one foot in front of the other and setting a goal. Learn to marvel in the fact that your body can even do this!
Hippocrates of ancient Vegan fame is credited with saying that walking is the best form of medicine- so what are you waiting for? Get out there and get healthy!
